Repeat Prescriptions

pill_bottlePrescriptions will be printed and authorised by GP’s or nurse practitioners at the practice where medication needs to be recommended to treat your condition.

You may receive a repeat prescription from your GP where the medication to treat your condition is on-going.

You can order your prescription by the following methods:

  • Drop in or post a letter to us with your requirements or use the white right hand side of your prescription form ticking those items that you require.
  • Complete a repeat prescription request slip available at reception.
  • Order by fax on 0113 2304219, giving full details of your name, address, date of birth, Patient ID number (This is printed on the top right of the white portion of your repeat prescription form) and your requirements.
  • Order through patient access. This allows you to send your medication requests directly to the GP. Use the link above to get started.

Please note:  we do not take prescription requests over the telephone as it can lead to errors.

Collecting Prescriptions and Timescales

We aim to have your prescription ready within 48 hours of you placing the order. This allows us time to sort out any queries there might be with your prescription e.g. when the doctor has to re-approve your medication and it also gives us time to get your prescription signed by a doctor.

We do recognise that problems can happen and you may need your medication urgently. In this case please explain to our receptionists and we will deal with your request as soon as possible.

You can arrange to have your prescription collected by your chemist. If you wish to do this, please state on your prescription which chemist and which branch will collect your prescription.

Medication Reviews

Periodically the doctor will need to review your medication to ensure that it still meets your needs.

The review date is printed on the bottom of your prescription. Please ensure that you arrange a review around the date of your review.

Where your review date has passed, it is likely that you will need to see the GP to review your medication prior to your medication being authorised again.
