Changes to Walk In Service

NOTICE TO PATIENTS – PLEASE READ
WALK IN SERVICE CHANGES - April 2017

The CCG funding cuts will also have an impact on our Walk in Service from April 2017. This funding was helping us and other local GP Practices to pay for extra capacity and appointments.

This will have an impact on the service we provide from April 2017 but we want to maintain our core services including the further development of our successful Walk in Service

This service gives patients a same day appointment and has also helped us to reduce the number of appointments that are missed by patients.

The Walk in Service will now also include nurse and pharmacist staff that will work alongside and support GP’s who are already offering the walk in service.

Patients will be guided to the clinician appropriate to their needs and this may be a Nurse or Pharmacists where they can deal with your Clinical needs.

In order to properly assess the best clinical person to help you in the Walk In service, you will be required to complete a short form on arrival to the Walk In service indicating the reason for your visit.

The form will then need to be handed to the receptionist who will record this information on the Walk In list for the GP’s and other clinicians to assess.

This process will maintain your privacy should you not wish to directly discuss your problem and it will also ensure that we get the right information.

GPs will always be immediately available to support these other clinicians.

The Walk In waiting time may extend on occasion where we are extremely busy.

Both Extended Hours and Walk in Service will be reviewed by the surgery, including input from your Patient Participation Group over the coming months

Thank you,

The GP’s, Staff and Patient Participation Group Members of Burton Croft Surgery
